I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie. I'm a cram school teacher and normally work in the evening. When I have time, I make a study of Blackjack through taking a test practically. I wanna become a smarter blackjack player in the future. I've been seeking for a convincing rule recently.

[Blackjack] 13 vs Dealer's 3

BS says, "Stand on 13."
hand 13 against Dealer's 3 in Blackjack

Konnichiwa, minasan.

Hello, everyone.

I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.

I went to my parent's house last Sunday.
And there, my parents and I ate okonomiyaki for dinner.

I remember talking with a young Aussie man at Cairns Airport.
We were waiting for the check-in.
Since we were free then, we chatted with each other.

He was going to visit his friends in Japan.
I recommended to him he should try takoyaki in Osaka.
However, he replied, "I like okonomiyaki better."
He had a plan to eat it in Hiroshima.
I was surprised, because he already knew okonimiyaki well.

It is similar to pizza in appearance, but the taste is different.
In my case, I sometimes put some cheese inside it.
That's getting close to pizza.
So we call such okonomiyaki Japanese pizza.

Have you ever tried okonomiyaki before?

Anyway, I'll write about Blackjack.
Today, I took a test of 'stay' in the following case:

A player's first hand is 13 and a dealer's initial card is 3.

In this situation, 'stay' is recommended in the basic strategy.

How do you think the result will be?

▼Practical Test (13 stay against Dealer's 3)▼

Since hand 13 is not good, the result was just as I expected.

Next, I took another test in the same case.
It was about 'hit'.
Do you think it will be better than 'stay'?

▼Practical Test (13 hit against Dealer's 3)▼

As I expected, the player busted frequently.
The possibility of the player's busted is more than 38% in theory.
The player wants to avoid taking the card 9, 10 J ,Q and K.

In addition, taking low cards like A, 2 or 3 doesn't make sense.
Even if the player succeeds in avoiding busted hand, the hand is still rubbish.

The player has to take the card 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8.
The possibility in this case is also 38% in theory.

In conclusion, 'stay' is rather better than 'hit'.

That's all for today.

Thank you for reading my article and watching my videos.
I hope they will be useful.

I'll come back soon.  Bye.
