[Blackjack] Two 4s vs Dealer's 5

Is it terrible to split 4s?
Two 4s against Dealer's 5 in Blackjack

Konnichiwa, minasan.

Hello, everyone.

I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.

I make a study of Blackjack these days.
Particularly, I've been collecting winning rates gained by practical tests recently.
I would play the game in good condition if I have great strategy.

The basic strategy is NOT always correct, I think.
So its verification is necessary.
Calculating a winning rate is one of the verification.
With the data, players may have great confidence enough to beat a dealer.

Anyway, I tried the following case this morning.

A player's first hand is two 4s and a dealer's initial card is 5.

In this situation, in fact, 'split' is recommended in the basic strategy.
It's surprising, isn't it?
I didn't know it for many years.

Then why is 'split' recommended?

I have a good reason.
That's because a dealer's initial card 5 is the second weakest number and the dealer often results in a busted hand.
If so, it must be advantageous for a player to have as many hands as possible.

Besides, after split 4s, the player may get a chance to double down if he/she takes 5, 6 or 7.
And then, each of the 4s might be a scatter symbol in slot machines.
That seems exciting!

The result was not too bad.
In comparison to just hitting, the player should have occasionally got excited.
As you already notice it, the player had several opportunities to double down after splitting.
At the maximum, it's possible for the player to win fourfold.
That would be really nice!

Then I took another test in the same case.
It's about just hitting.
Many players probably do so.

My friend, who also likes blackjack, said,
"We shouldn't split a pair of 4.  If taking a picture card, hand 14 is not good, is it?"

To be sure, I agree with him.
However, increasing our gaming chips is important to win the game.

In conclusion, I will basically choose 'split' and get a chance to double down.
If I can guess the next card number, I will definitely do so.

What about you?

That's all for today.

Thank you for reading my article and watching my videos.
I hope they will be useful for you to play blackjack in a casino.
Why don't we become a smarter player to beat a dealer?

I'll take more tests and keep the results and my considerations here.

Have a good weekend.  Bye.
