[Blackjack] Two 5s vs Dealer's 6

What about splitting a pair of 5?
Two 5s against Dealer's 6 in Blackjack

Konbanwa, minasan.

Good evening, everyone.

I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.

Just two months have passed since I started Youtube Channel, Nokkie's Blackjack English Ver.
A few persons followed the channel recently.
I appreciate it!
I'm motivated, thanks to them.
If one of them is reading this article now, I really wanna say "Arigatoo Gozaimasu"  to you, while bowing in Japanese style.

Anyway, today's topic is about the strategy of Blackjack.
According to the basic strategy, splitting a pair of 5 is forbidden.
Against Dealer's 9 or below, doubling down is recommended.
Actually, many players do that.

However, some choose 'split', especially younger generations do, I guess.
They might be adventurers.
Sometimes other players complain of their brave decision.
I have seen some young Aussie guys being complained of it before.
Most of them were just quiet and had no reaction.
I think they were concentrating themselves on playing.

In my case, I have never split 5s, but I'm curious about it.
That's why I decided to make a study of it this time.

I collected lots of data from two kinds of practical tests about the case;

A player's first hand is two 5s and a dealer's initial card is 6.

In the BS, to say nothing of it, double down is recommended.
To any hand 10 as well as two 5s, we should double down.

First, I conducted the test in European Style.

▼Practical Test (European's)▼

I learned a lot from the test.
Unexpectedly, the result of splitting the pair was quite good!
Now I can agree with the Aussie young guys.

Most players might assume that they are very likely to take a card of 10 if hitting.
So they don't choose 'split', do they?

However, the probability of taking a card of 10 is about 33% in theory.
Even though we know this percentage, many of us don't wanna choose 'split'.
To be honest, I am one of them.

▼Practical Test (American's)▼

From the result gained by this test, I can say that double down is better than split.
The result in European style was kind of unusual.
The dealer happened to be unlucky.
However, I wonder that it will be pretty comfortable when winning fourfold.

After all, I will make a choice of double down if having a pair of  5.

What about you?

That's all for today.
Thank you for reading my article and watching my videos.
I hope they will be useful for your playing.

I'll be right back.
Have a good holiday.
Bye.
