[Blackjack] Two 9s vs Dealer's 7

Blackjack Strategy

Do you split it aggressively?

Two 9s against dealer's 7 in Blackjack

In the basic strategy of Blackjackstay is recommended.
But some players split the pair.

When we have a pair of 9, the BS doesn't say, "Split the pair." against the dealer's 7,10 & Ace.

At first, I didn't understand why splitting is not recommended against D's 7.
Thinking of it well, I found the reason.

The pair's value is 18 and hand 18 against D's 7 is advantageous to the player, for the dealer is likely to make hand 17 after hitting 7.

However, there are aggressive BJ players around the world.
Some of them are willing to split it in this situation.
And then his/her aim is probably to increase his chips.

I wonder which choice would be better to win.
So I conducted a Blackjack experiment to calculate the winning percentages for both choice.

In this video, there are 20 scenes from all.
10 from hole card style and 10 from no hole card style.
The playback time is about 10 min.

Results of the experiment

The following two graphs show the results based on the 100 data.
We would win at a rate of 2/3.
Isn't it fine?

The tie rate is high.
If you like "Stand off.", you should do it.

The results except for a tie

 are as follows:

Winning Percentages
Stay 76%    Split 67%

The chips fluctuation
Stay +46 chips    Split +45 chips
(Bet amount: 1 chip every time)

To sum up, stay is more preferable than split.
I'm slightly on my mind why there was not a big difference of the chip's fluctuation.
Anyway, I will just follow the BS in this situation.

One more graph.
The 3-unit win means, for example, one is a double down hand and the other is a normal hand.
Splitting 9s and taking a card of 2, we will be able to double down, following the BS.

Compared to other cases, the probability of this opportunity coming are low.
Actually, it came only 6 out of 100 times.

This graph means 3 times for 3 wins and 3 times for 3 losses.
Nothing particular to mention here.

Anyway, this article is finished.
I hope you will like it.
Thank you for reading.
Bye.
