I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie. I'm a cram school teacher and normally work in the evening. When I have time, I make a study of Blackjack through taking a test practically. I wanna become a smarter blackjack player in the future. I've been seeking for a convincing rule recently.

[Blackjack] 8 vs Dealer's 6

Have you ever tried 8-double?
hand 8 against Dealer's 6 in Blackjack

Good morning, everybody.

I'm Japanese Nokkie.

It's about 8 a.m. here in Japan now.
It's a fine & warm morning.
I'm feeling like doing everything in this good climate.

Anyway, I will move on to the main topic.
It is about 8-double in Blackjack.
I have never tried it.
What about you?

I saw only a few players trying it before.
I couldn't believe it.
I suspected that they neglected their play.
Or just wanted to win a lot?

I conducted a practical test of the following case:

A players first hand is 8 and a dealer's initial card is 6.

Needless to say, hit is recommended in the basic strategy, not double down.
I collected two kinds of data, hit and double down.

I wonder how the results will be?

First, I took the test in the hole card style.
The number of trials is 20.
The play time is 10 min.
 Aren't they moderate?

Surprisingly, There was NOT a big difference of the results between the two choices.

Next, the one in European Style (no-hole card).
In the following video, Japanese language is used.
Fortunately, some Japanese viewers also look forward to my BJ videos.

After all, hit was rather better than double down, from the latter test.

When we hit, the winning percentage is calculated about 51% in total, except for a tie.
The chip's fluctuation is positive 1 chip (40→41).

The following graph shows the percentages considering a tie.

On the other hand, when we double down, the winning percentage is calculated about 44% in total, except for a tie.
The chip's fluctuation is negative 10 chips (40→30).

The next shows the percentages considering a tie.

The number of the trials was just 40 in all.

From the results gained by the tests, I can say that hit is better than double down in the above situation.

That's all.
I hope you will be interested in my articles.
I'll be back soon.
Have a nice day.
