[Pontoon,Spanish 21] Two 3s vs Dealer's 8
Pontoon (Spanish 21) Strategy
Are you willing to split 3s?
Hi, there.
I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.
I like casino games very much.
I'm going write about Pontoon strategy today as well.
When a player's first hand is a pair of 3 and a dealer's initial card is 8, which action do you usually choose, split or hit?
In the basic strategy of Pontoon, split is recommended.
However, there are some players who don't like 3's splitting.
As the BS shows, I wonder if split is effective in this situation.
In the BS of Blackjack, it is not recommended, but stay is.
They are different.
I conducted a Pontoon experiment to calculate the winning percentages for both choices.
Same as usual, I used 8 decks of cards..
Actually, I don't always use all of them.
How do you think the result will be?
Results of the experiment
From the results gained by the test, I can say that split is better than hit.We should follow the BS.
A pair of 3 is hand 6, so it's considered the weakest of all.
Splitting the pair, we will have two hand 3 and avoid holding the weakest.
Since the dealer's upcard is 8, which is rather strong, it would be all right not to lose money.
In my case, I would be satisfied with stand-off (one win and one loss) in this situation.
We should play with patience and wait for a big chance to win a lot.
We don't have to be in a hurry, right?
That's all for today.
If you have any questions or any request, please feel free to contact me, thanks.
Have a pleasant day. Bye.
