I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie. I'm a cram school teacher and normally work in the evening. When I have time, I make a study of Blackjack through taking a test practically. I wanna become a smarter blackjack player in the future. I've been seeking for a convincing rule recently.

[Pontoon,Spanish 21] Two Aces vs Dealer's Ace

Since this game is NOT Blackjack, ・・・
Two Aces against Dealer's Ace in Pontoon

Konnichiwa, minasan.

Hello, everyone.

I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.

The Golden week Holidays are almost over.
I'm a bit tired, because I did many different things.
But I can also say the holidays were fulfilling to me.

Anyway, I made a study of Spanish 21 (Pontoon) today.
As the photo shows, it was about three Aces.
The cards on the tatami floor don't match each other, though.  I like it.

According to the basic strategy of Pontoon, 'hit' is recommended in this situation.
Do you know that?
I didn't know that.

I always split a pair of Aces in any situation before studying that.
I never thought of hitting two Aces.

In Blackjack, splitting Aces is recommended in the BS.
Then why is 'hit' recommended in Pontoon?

I took a test practically in order to calculate winning rate in both choices.

As I expected, the result was NOT good.
From the test, I can say that hit is somewhat better than split.

Since 10's cards are NOT used in Pontoon, low cards are likely to appear if hitting.
This time, the dealer got 7-card-21!
If it's a player's, the odds are 3 to 1!

A player can get excited about such a bonus hand if hitting two Aces.

However, I will hesitate about whether to hit or not.

I definitely wanna avoid being said, "twelve, twelve, too many."
(soft 12→hard 12→22 busted)
It's an embarrassing loss, isn't it?

When I play Blackjack, I'm used to splitting a pair of Ace.
Pontoon is not Blackjack, but another.

I need to make a better strategy for my playing pleasantly.

That's all for today.
Thank you so much.
