[Pontoon,Spanish 21] 16 vs Dealer's 7

Can you hit it without hesitation?
hand 16 against Dealer's 7 in Pontoon

Ohayoo-gozaimasu.

Good morning.

I'm a Japanese guy, Nokkie.

I'm a big fan of blackjack game.
To be a smarter blackjack player, I have been studying it recently.
I wanna go playing it in a real casino.
Japan has no legal casinos so far.

The topic today is about Pontoon, not Blackjack.
In some areas, they call it Spanish 21.
I didn't know that.

Since the basic strategy of Pontoon is complicated, I need to study it harder.
Fortunately, I can learn it by heart through creating videos.

This time, I conducted a test of the following case:

A player's first hand is 16 and a dealer's initial card is 7.

In the basic strategy, hit is recommended.
It's just same as in Blackjack.
However, some players hate hitting hand 16, and definitely stay at it.

That's why I decided to take the test.
What' the winning percentage?

The results for both were not good just as I expected.
To begin with, hand 16 is fully weak.
Everybody understands it well.

If surrender is allowed in this situation, are you willing to do it?

In my case, no, I will NOT choose it, but hit.
I have good reasons.
If we can take 2, 3, 4, or 5, the probability of our winning will be rapidly raised.
Because the dealer's first card is 7.

However, against Dealer's 10 or Ace, we cannot expect it.
In this hard situation, we should be ready to be a loser or surrender.
That can't be helped.

That's all.
Thank you for reading my article and watching the video.
I hope they will be useful.

Take care.
